About Theme
A choir built around the story of each concert
Theme is a new Costa Blanca choir. More about our people, musical direction and rehearsal home.
About Theme
Theme was founded by John Oliver Edwards in early 2026 to bring a fresh and exciting approach to community music-making on the Costa Blanca.
Each project is built around a single theme, with every concert telling its own unique musical story. Rather than performing a collection of unrelated songs, Theme creates performances that are connected by a central idea. The group’s inaugural concert celebrates the music of the world-renowned musical Les Misérables.
Theme brings together singers from across the Costa Blanca, creating a truly inclusive community choir. Members range from teenagers to singers in their eighties, and although performances are in English, the choir reflects the area’s international community, with members from many different nationalities.
At its heart, Theme is about bringing people together through music. Whether you are an experienced singer or simply enjoy being part of a welcoming community, everyone is welcome.
Supporting local charities is also a key part of every Theme performance. This year, we are proud to support Project4All, whose outstanding work with homeless people across the Costa Blanca is changing lives every day. Their mission was one of the inspirations behind the choice of this year’s concert theme, making this performance about far more than music alone.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals take place on Friday afternoons from 4:30pm to 6:00pm at venues in Teulada and Moraira.
As Theme works on individual projects, not every singer is required at every rehearsal. Members will be notified through the group’s online platform when they are needed for upcoming rehearsals, ensuring that everyone’s time is used efficiently.
The Amateur Music Groups Association
The Amateur Music Groups Association (AMGA) is a non-profit organisation that brings together many of the Costa Blanca’s amateur performing arts groups.
Its membership reflects the area’s rich international community and includes choirs, chamber choirs, barbershop groups, musical theatre and drama companies, and a wide variety of arts organisations. By working together, member groups help to promote the performing arts, encourage collaboration, and strengthen the vibrant cultural life of the region.
